<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric reel for fishing, allowing a user to perform a series of fishing operations while holding the reel by hand. <P>SOLUTION: The electric reel for fishing includes: a drive motor 8 for rotationally driving a spool 7; a control case 15 disposed in a reel body 5 and having a control part for controlling the drive motor; an operating member 25 disposed at a position where the thumb of a hand holding the reel body together with a fishing rod can reach for adjusting the output of the drive motor 8; a clutch mechanism for freely rotating the spool; and a clutch on/off switching member 19 for switching the state of the clutch mechanism from the turned-off state to the turned-on state.
