<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both reduction in size and cost and improvement in performance of an electric power tool by simply configuring the electric power tool having a plurality of operation modes while suppressing complexifying of a mechanical transmission mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The electric power tool includes: a motor 30; a mode switching lever 19 which is displaced by a user for operation mode setting; mode changing switches 37 and 38 for outputting signals corresponding to the set position of the mode switching lever 19; and a controller 31 for controlling the motor 30 by a control method corresponding to an electric signal output from an electric signal output section, among a plurality of different types of control methods. The electric power tool further includes a plurality of transmission mechanisms for transmitting the rotation drive force of the motor 30 to a tool output shaft. When the mode switching lever 19 is displaced to a certain set position, the motor 30 is controlled by the control method corresponding to the set position, and the transmission mechanism is switched to a transmission mechanism corresponding to the set position in conjunction with the displacement.
