摘要 1,056,481. Seismic prospecting. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. Feb. 4, 1964 [Feb. 15, 1963], No. 4686/64. Heading H4D. Seismic signals are processed on a velocity basic (i.e. the apparent velocity of seismic wave propagation in the direction of the array) in order to separate desired waves from undesired waves when both have velocities such that their frequency and wave number spectra overlap. The signals may be derived from a plurality of detectors (geophones) receiving energy from a single shot or from a single detector responsive to a plurality of spatiallyseparated shots. The Specification discusses the theory of operation of the proposed system the practical realization of which leads to an arrangement for indicating the presence, inside or outside a predetermined time delay range, of signals in each seismic trace having a time delay with respect to signals in another trace each trace being a function of its spatial origin in relation to the spatial origin of each other trace. In operation each trace is weighted in relation to each other as a function of their respective spatial origins and bi-directionally time shifted in relation to each other as functions of such origins and the predetermined time delay range and all the weighted and time shifted traces are then composited to produce the desired result. The manner in which this is effected is described in connection with the partschematic diagrams of Figs. 3 to 6 (not shown). Fig. 7 shows a functional diagram of the arrangement comprising a magnetic drum record 1 of the field traces the signals recorded on each track being fed to a magnetic drum 2 the recording and play-back heads of which are adjusted so that each trace is time-shifted as a function of its spatial origin (i.e. the position of the associated geophone in the spread) and of the desired centre velocity (termed " tilting ") each trace so operated on being subjected to a further time shifting operation involving a progressive time advance and a progressive time retardation (so that two traces are produced for each input trace) termed " slicing" by means of a magnetic drum 4 with suitably positioned recording and play-back heads. (In practice the functions performed by drums 2 and 4 are performed by a single drum with appropriately positioned heads.) The signals read-off drum 4 are then suitably weighted by means of resistors 3 and after summation in 8 fed to a recording drum 20, operated synchronously with drum 1, on which the corrected traces are produced. The practical operation of the equipment is discussed and an application to the processing of data obtained in underwater seismic operations is described.
