An outer race of a rolling bearing has a screw thread on its outer surface which extends from at least one end of the outer surface. In an embodiment a double row taper roller bearing has an outer race 1, Fig. 1, provided with screwthreads 10, 11 on its outer periphery. The bearing is mounted on a member 16 by means of nuts 12, 13 which are screwed on to the screwthreads 10, 11 respectively so as to clamp against side surfaces 14, 15 of the member 16. In another embodiment a radial flange 17, Fig. 2, replaces one of the screw-threads and a nut 13 has an extension 19 which is deformed into a groove or inclined surface provided in the outer race so as to oppose loosening of the nut. |
