<p>A method of compressing a message header, having a header name (HN) and a header value (HV), typically a HTTP header, comprises: obtaining from an indexing table a list of string patterns (S110); determining a set of non-overlapping substrings in the header value that match at least one string pattern; splitting the header value into an ordered set of elementary header values (HVi) based on the determined substrings (S120), wherein the elementary header values start or end with respective substrings of the determined non-overlapping substrings; forming an ordered set of elementary headers, each made of the header name and one of the elementary header values (S130); and encoding the elementary headers using the indexing table (S140).</p> |
