摘要
1,061,147. Feeding webs; delivering sheets. J. V. BAILEY, G. C. FORTIN, P. R. PRICE and W. S. FORSTER. Aug. 16, 1963 [Aug. 16, 1962], No. 31552/62. Headings B6B and B6H. [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for collecting in counted batches sheets cut from a web, comprises two receiving stations 14, 15, each including two receivers 37, 38 and 39, 41, respectively, conveying means for conveying the sheets to the stations, and directing means for selectively directing the sheets into one of the receiving stations and stacking the sheets to form batches of predetermined number in the two receivers of that station successively. Feeding webs.-A web 11 having laterally spaced pairs of banknotes printed thereon is pulled from a printing machine by co-operating rollers 22, 23. The web is tensioned by a roller 18 and registered longitudinally by a roller 25 mounted on a pivoted arm 26. The roller axis is slightly eccentric of the pivot point 27 of the arm 26. The angular position of the arm is adjustable by means of a screw rod 28. The web is slit longitudinally and the two parts separated by means such as disclosed' in Specification 1,061,146. Cutting and perforating apparatus.-The web 11 is slit longitudinally by three rotary slitters 33 and the waste margins removed down tubes 34 by continuous blasts of air. The slitters bear against a steel roller 32. The latter is slightly barrel-shaped. The two webs thus formed are cut into pairs of sheets by a revolving cutter coacting with a fixed or revolving knife 113. Delivering sheets.-Each pair of sheets is separated transversely and accelerated to separate it from the following pair of sheets by rollers 117, 123, and 124, as described in Specifications 1,061,143 and 1,061,146. Each pair of sheets is " accepted " or " rejected " under the control of scanning means 31 as described in Specification 834,125. The accepted sheets are collected in counted batches in receivers 37 and 38 alternately. The rejected sheets are collected in counted batches in receivers 39 and 41 alternately. The sheets are selectively removed from the stream by rotating suction drums under the control of the scanning means and deposited in a stack by means of stripper fingers as disclosed in Specifications 1,061,144 and 1,061,145, respectively. A complete batch of sheets is removed automatically from its receiver and packed (see Division B8) while the other receiver in the pair is being filled. An emergency receiving station 16 is provided to receive the sheets in the event of a breakdown of the machine.
