<p>The present invention relates to a method and a device for controlling peak luminance of an OLED display device which can reduce power consumption by controlling peak luminance according to various image characteristics. The method for controlling peak luminance according to the present invention comprises: a first step of detecting APL from an input image; a second step of setting at least two different peak luminance according to the APL; a third step of extracting at least one image characteristic information among edge information and histogram distribution information from the input image and generating a weight representing the complexity of the corresponding image using the extracted image characteristic information; and a fourth step of outputting final peak luminance by selecting one of the peak luminance using the weight or weighted averaging the peak luminance using the weight.</p> |
