<p>The present invention relates to a method for controlling an engine of a plug-in hybrid vehicle, capable of determining whether an engine needs to be driven or not even when the plug-in hybrid vehicle repeats driving only a short distance and enhancing engine performance and durability of the plug-in hybrid vehicle by periodically driving the engine in accordance with a driving pattern of a driver and a current driving situation. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for controlling a plug-in hybrid engine comprises: a step of accumulating an EV cumulative driving distance or an EV cumulative driving time; a step of comparing the EV cumulative driving distance or the EV cumulative driving time with a predetermined value; and a step of driving the engine for inspection when the EV cumulative driving distance or the EV cumulative driving time is the predetermined value or greater.</p> |
