PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holographic recording medium which can perform favorable holographic recording and reproduction even if recording and reproduction light intensity is low without the need of a cartridge and which has high light blocking effect for an external light and excels in shelf life.SOLUTION: The holographic recording medium has a holographic recording layer for recording an interference fringe obtained by radiating a recording signal light and a recording reference light as recording information, and a shutter section that is provided so as to adjacent to the holographic recording layer, and that is formed by laminating a first polarization absorbing layer having a first maximum transmission axis, a magnetic polarization variable layer, and a second polarization absorbing layer having a second maximum transmission axis which is orthogonal to the first maximum transmission axis. |
