<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movement amount restriction device which exhibits a base isolation function and minimizes damage to an upper structure in an expected earthquake and strong wind. <P>SOLUTION: When base isolation devices 26 are deformed beyond a predetermined value due to a large external force caused by an earthquake or strong wind, and a lower story 22 and an upper story 34 are horizontally moved relative to each other, the upper end 46A of an elevator shaft 46 abuts on the wall surface 92A of a recess 92 to restrict the amount of the relative movement of these stories in the horizontal direction. Thus the amount of the relative movement of the lower story 22 and the upper story 34 in the horizontal direction is restricted due to the deformations of the base isolation devices 26 beyond the predetermined value, the base isolation function can be exhibited in the estimated earthquake and strong wind, minimizing damage to the upper story 34. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
