A semiconductor device comprising: a first power supply line; an internal voltage generating circuit receiving a first external power supply voltage and generating an internal voltage in response to a first signal, the internal voltage generating circuit supplying the internal voltage to the first power supply line; a second power supply line supplied with a second external power supply voltage lower than the internal voltage; a switch connected between the first power supply line and the second power supply line; and a control circuit controlling the switch in response to the first signal, the control circuit bringing the switch into a conductive state when the internal voltage generating circuit starts generating the internal voltage, and keeping the switch in the conductive state during a first period of time, wherein the internal voltage generating circuit comprises: a differential amplifier having a current mirror; anda current supply connected between a common source of the differential amplifier and the second power supply line, and wherein the current mirror and the current supply are activated in response to the first signal so that the internal voltage generates the internal voltage.
