A control panel 1 (Fig. 1) is moved in one direction by a toothed wheel 11 which engages toothing 3 on the panel when an electromagnetic clutch RL is switched on and in the other direction by a wheel 12 under the control of clutch VR. The required position of the panel is entered by, for example, an electronic calculator on switches A1-A5 (Fig. 3, not shown) in binary coding and compared with the actual position of the panel, markings on which are sensed magnetically or photo-electrically and entered on switches K1-K5. If the required position is to the right of the actual position in Fig. 1, a relay C is energized through contacts of switches A1-A5, K1-K5 to engage clutch VR and hence drive the wheel 12 in a clockwise direction. Similarly, if the required position is to the left of the actual position, clutch RL is engaged. When the control panel reaches the required position a relay D is energized which disengages both clutches.</p> |
