A fastener of resilient plastics material for securing a flanged beading to a support comprises a body 11 with means 12 to engage the fastener to an apertured support 28, a first undercut edge 19 extending lengthwise on one side of the body and adapted to clamp one flange of the beading against the supply and a pair of flexible laterally deflectable arms 17, 18 extending from opposite ends of the body each having a second undercut edge, 20, 21 respectively, extending lengthwise of the body, project from the opposite side of the body to the first undercut edge and are adapted to clamp the other flange of the beading against the support. In the embodiment shown the means for engaging the fastener in an apertured support comprises a tubular shank 12 with longitudinal ribs 16 on the inside to provide interference when a hollow pin 14 is forced into the shank expanding the shank wall outwardly. The undercut edge 19 is substantially straight and the arms 17, 18 are so arranged that the edges 20, 21 are inclined to a line parallel to the edge 19. The arms 17, 18 and the body 11 have recesses 22, 23 and 24 respectively which save material as well as increasing flexibility. Beading 25 is engaged with the undercut edges of a number of fasteners 10 by flanges 26, 27. In a modification (Fig. 5 not shown) the arms are made more flexible and the undercut edges of the arms are convex. |
