1,068,460. Automatic speed and power control. SULZER BROTHERS Ltd. Feb. 8, 1966 [March 5, 1965], No. 5493/66. Heading G3R. Generator 6 is driven by diesel engine 8 and supplies traction motors 10, the engine power output and speed being regulated in accordance with reference signal a derived from generator 1. Unit 12 limits the rate-of-change of signal a to a certain value when the signal is increasing, the rate-of-change having higher values when the signal is decreasing. Signal a' is compared with tachometer signal b to form deviation signal c which is amplified and limited to provide signal c" for adjusting the rate of fuel injection. The maximum output of limiter 15 is controlled by signal d representing the supercharging pressure, the limiter 15 being designed to prevent overfuelling of the engine. The signal a is also applied to function generator 20 whose output signal e represents the desired power output of the engine, the signal e being limited in dependence upon the signal d to form signal g. The latter is compared with the amplified speed deviation signal c' to provide deviation signal h controlling the excitation of generator field winding 5. Control amplifier 22 has an integral action for increasing excitation, and proportional-integral action for decreasing excitation. |
