The present invention relates to a traffic control system using an image sensing device. The traffic control system comprises a video unit for filming traffic conditions within an intersection area in real time and transmitting video; a processing unit, connected to the video unit via wired or wireless communication for detecting streets from image information transmitted from the video unit, for determining whether there are vehicles on a street with a green light displayed according to a predetermined display order among a plurality of traffic signals installed at the intersection and issuing a command to display a next light after a predetermined period of time if vehicles are present on the street, or issuing a command to display the next light immediately if vehicles are not present on the street; and a signal control unit for controlling traffic signals according to a command received from the processing unit. Accordingly, the present invention promotes drivers′ convenience by reducing unnecessary waiting time at an intersection, and provides a traffic control system using an image sensing device that can prevent fuel wasting arising from engine idling while waiting unnecessarily at the intersection. |
