1. An apparatus for maintaining dielectric integrity and thermal management of an electric connection, comprising:
a power cable termination comprising an upper cryostat chamber and a lower cryostat chamber; an interior cavity within the upper cryostat chamber at least partially filled with a liquid cryogen; an interior cavity within the lower cryostat chamber at least partially filled with a gaseous cryogen; an upper bushing extending into the upper cryostat chamber; a lower bushing extending into the lower cryostat chamber; an upper bushing conductor passing through the upper bushing and into the interior cavity of the upper cryostat chamber such that at least a portion of the upper bushing conductor is outside the cable termination and at least a portion of the upper bushing conductor is immersed in the liquid cryogen; a lower bushing conductor passing through the lower bushing and into the lower cryostat chamber such that at least a portion of the lower bushing conductor is positioned within the gaseous cryogen and at least a portion of the lower bushing conductor is positioned within the liquid cryogen a power cable extending into the interior cavity of the lower cryostat chamber, the power cable electrically coupled to the lower bushing conductor. |
