An electrode assembly according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first electrode plate including a first electrode tab on one end of one side surface thereof; a second electrode plate including a second electrode tab formed in a direction that is the same as the lengthwise direction of the first electrode tab but at a position in which the second electrode tab does not overlap the first electrode tab, and a projecting portion formed at a position that overlaps the first electrode tab; and a separation membrane for insulating the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate. Accordingly, an electrode assembly and a secondary battery including same according to an embodiment of the present invention can improve the stability of a secondary battery by preventing lithium ion accumulation by means of a separation membrane.
