A method for producing a float glass comprises the steps of: melting a glass raw material; molding the molten glass into a glass ribbon while floating the molten glass on a molten metal; and slowly cooling the glass ribbon. In the step of molding, a gas or liquid containing a fluorine atom-containing molecule is blown onto the glass ribbon that has a viscosity of 1.0 × 104 to 2.5 × 1010 Pa·s.
