<p>SURGICAL APPARATUS AND STRUCTURE FOR APPLYING SPRAYABLE WOUND TREATMENT MATERIAL Abstract A surgical stapling apparatus (10), for dispensing wound treatment material to a target surgical site, comprising: a handle assembly (12); at least one pivotable actuating handle member (16) connected to the handle assembly (12); a tubular body portion (20) extending from the handle assembly (12); an anvil assembly (26) including a stem (26b) and an anvil member (26b) supported on one end of the stem (26b); a staple pusher member (22) operatively supported on a distal end of the tubular body portion (20); connection means (240) operatively disposed within the tubular body portion (20), the connection means (240) being configured and adapted to operatively engage a second end of the stem (26b); and an ampoule (260) operatively disposed within the connection means (240), wherein the ampoule (260) contains a quantity of wound treatment material therein, and wherein during a surgical procedure, the wound treatment material is dispensed from the ampoule (260).</p> |
