Leak Detection in Composite Structures

A leak through the thickness of a structure is detected from one side of the structure using a leak detection layer. The leak detection layer exhibits visually observable changes when exposed to an air leak.

1. A method of detecting a leak through a structure, comprising:
placing a leak detection layer over an area of the structure; placing a vacuum bag over leak detection layer and sealing the vacuum bag on the structure; drawing a vacuum in the vacuum bag; and observing a change in the leak detection layer.
