This sintered metal bearing (8) is formed by means of sintering the result of compression molding a starting material powder, is provided with chamfered sections (8e, 8e') at least at the outer edge of both end surfaces (8b, 8c), and is provided with a dynamic pressure generating section (8a1) at the inner peripheral surface (8a) resulting from sizing, wherein the axial-direction dimensions (a1, a1') of the chamfered sections (8e, 8e') are smaller than the radial-direction dimensions (b1, b1'), and the difference (a1-a1') of the axial-direction dimensions of the chamfered sections (8e, 8e') between one end side and the other end side in the axial direction is greater than the difference (b1-b1') in the radial direction dimensions. |
