1, 044, 034. Zip fasteners. NOVI PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. April 17, 1963 [April 26, 1962; June 20, 1962], No. 15061/63. Headings D1E and D1K. [Also in Divisions B5 and E2] In a zip fastener having a monofil woven into and projecting from the edge of the stringer to constitute the fastener elements, interlocking surfaces are produced on the monofil during weaving. As shown in Fig. 2, pins 7 mounted in the form of a comb are inserted between the last few projecting loops 2, between the edge of the tape and a fixed guide wire 9, so that indentations 10, 11 are produced in the limits of the loops by the bent-up reed, the blades 6a of which stand proud of the remaining blades 6; or the blades 6a may form a reed separate from the beat-up reed. The monofils may be softened by heat or chemicals. Instead of pins 7 passing through the fastener to act on both limbs of each loop, two short sets of pins may be inserted from above and below; in this case, the pins may be rectangular so as to flatten all the parts of the loops lying above and below the wire 9, only the parts of the monofil curving round the wire being left at its original diameter. |
