The present invention relates to a lyocell material for a cigarette filter and a method for preparing the same and, more specifically, to a lyocell material for a cigarette filter and a method for preparing the same, wherein lyocell multi-filaments including low-strength lyocell monofilaments are used to prepare a crimped tow, and thus the finally prepared lyocell material for a cigarette filter exhibits low strength, thereby improving processing efficiency at the time of manufacturing the cigarette filter.
