[Also in Division H2] In a terminal assembly for clamping two wires 52 and 54 against a base-plate 30, a screw 10 urges a clamping plate 20 towards the base-plate, the clamping plate 20 having a substantially square outline and being in the form of two relatively inclined triangles 28 and 28a with a common hypotenuse. The concave face of the clamping plate faces the base-plate, each wire being clamped between an edge of the clamping plate 20 and the base-plate 30. If wires of different sizes are used the plate tilts slightly but still grips both wires. In the embodiments of Figs. 8-10 (not shown) the clamping plate has a pair of downwardly extending faces on opposite edges to restrain the conductors against movement in a direction transverse to the axis of the screw. Serrations may be formed on the underside of the clamping plate to grip the wires. The plate 20 may be permanently secured to the screw 10 by the screw having a reduced portion 14. |
