In the lock-up clutch (8) of a starting device (1), single-sided friction plates are used for first frictional engagement plates (83), which are fitted together with the power input-side clutch hub (81), and second frictional engagement plates (84), which are fitted together with the power output-side clutch drum (82). An engagement-side oil chamber (86) is defined between the lock-up piston (80) and the flange member (85). An oil supply path (88) for supplying hydraulic oil to the first and second frictional engagement plates (83, 84) is defined between the lock-up piston (80) and the front cover (3). An oil return path (89) for hydraulic oil that has passed between the first and second frictional engagement plates (83, 84) is defined on the side of the flange member (85) that is opposite to the lock-up piston (80) and the oil return path (89) communicates with the oil supply path (88). |
