An air conditioner of the present invention comprises: an outdoor unit in which an outdoor heat exchanger and a compressor are installed; a plurality of indoor units connected to the outdoor unit, where an indoor heat exchanger is installed; a four-way valve arranged on a discharge side of the compressor; refrigerant pipes which have a first refrigerant pipe branched between the four-way valve and the outdoor heat exchanger so that a part of refrigerants discharged from the compressor detours the outdoor heat exchanger and is sent to the indoor heat exchanger, a second refrigerant pipe connected with the four-way valve so that the entire refrigerants discharged from the compressor is sent to the indoor heat exchanger, and a third refrigerant pipe connected with the second refrigerant pipe in parallel, and connect the four-way valve and the indoor heat exchanger; and a heat pump valve arranged on the third refrigerant pipe and selectively closing the third refrigerant pipe. The air conditional comprises the outdoor unit to be applied to both an air conditioning and cooing simultaneous type air conditioner and an air conditioning and cooing transfer type air conditioner. |
