[Problem] To make it possible to easily obtain images of a desired quality when performing dynamic range compression on images such as radiographic images. [Solution] In an input image, a first photographic density range, which is the photographic density range of a region of interest, and the latitude are determined. On the basis of the first photographic density range and the latitude, a compression table for compressing the dynamic range of the input image is generated. The first photographic density range is modified using a specified proportion with respect to a modified latitude and a second photographic density range is determined. On the basis of the modified latitude and the second photographic density range, a new compression table is generated and the dynamic range of the input image is compressed using the new compression table. |
