<p>It is disclosed a method for transmitting a service clock from a base station controller to a base station of a mobile communication system through a synchronous, packet-switched backhauling network synchronized to a network clock. A master synchronization interworking device interfacing base station controller and backhauling network receives the service clock from the base station controller, generates a timestamp indicative of a difference between network clock and service clock, and transmits the timestamp through the backhauling network. A slave synchronization interworking device interfacing backhauling network and base station receives the timestamp, recovers the service clock based on received timestamp and network clock, and forwards the recovered service clock to the base station. This allows synchronizing the base station to a service clock which is in principle independent of the network clock. Several operators may accordingly share the backhauling network, each one preserving the ability to use an independent service clock.</p> |
