PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extract of bird's-nest fern for producing a prostatic disease-improving drug or health food.SOLUTION: An extract of bird's-nest fern contains pyropheophorbide a methyl ester, pheophorbide a methyl ester, 1-linoleic acid-3-linolenic acid-glyceride, 1-linolenic acid-2,3-dipalmitic acid-glyceride and 1,3-dipalmitic acid-glyceride. This extract is produced by a method comprising a solvent extraction step and a column chromatography step. In the solvent extraction step, extraction treatment is conducted on a bird's-nest fern sample by using an extraction solvent. The weight-volume ratio of the sample and the extraction solvent is 50 to 60 mg/ml. In the column chromatography step, ethanol and water are used for mixing with a linear-gradient to give a fluid phase and chromatographic separation treatment of the extract is conducted. |
