In a computer system in which a virtualization control unit controls a plurality of virtual machines, if memory is reclaimed regardless of the utilization of the memory by the virtual machines, cache misses will increase, resulting in degradation of the I/O performance of the entire system. In order to solve this problem, the utilization of the cache regions of the memory by the OSs of the plurality of virtual machines is monitored, and, based on the monitoring results, the virtualization control unit determines, from among the memory allocation regions that have already been allocated to the OSs, the memory allocation regions to be reclaimed, and reclaims the memory allocation regions to be reclaimed from the respective OSs. |
