Provided is a terminal fitting (10) configured so that, without requiring a particularly complex plating treatment, a thick plating film can be formed on a portion which requires such a plating film. The terminal fitting (10) is provided with a cylindrical connection section (11) into which a counterpart male terminal (60) can be inserted. The connection section (11) comprises elastic sections (14) circumferentially separated from each other with slits (13) therebetween, the slits (13) extending from the front end. Thick film sections (22) are provided on the inner surfaces of the elastic sections (14), the thick film sections (22) having a greater thickness than the remaining portions, and contact regions (17) which can come into contact with the male terminal (60) are formed on the thick film sections (22). The thick film sections (22) and the contact regions (17) are arranged on the front end-side inner surfaces of the connection sections (11) so as to be circumferentially continuous except where the slits (13) are located.
