The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same, capable of improving opening rates and penetrating rates of pixels by reducing an area of a storage capacitor while maintaining capacitance. The liquid crystal display device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: multiple pixels which are defined by multiple gate lines and multiple data lines; a common electrode line which is formed to surround the pixels; thin film transistors which are formed in the pixels; storage capacitors which are formed in the pixels; and pixel electrodes and common electrodes which are formed in the pixels. A first electrode of the storage capacitors is formed using a portion of the common electrode line, a second electrode of the storage capacitors is formed using a portion of the pixel electrodes, and an insulating layer of the storage capacitors is formed using a gate insulating layer only. |
