PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques of deploying small-coverage base stations in an ad-hoc manner.SOLUTION: An access point is configured based on acquired information. An identifier to be transmitted by an access point is selected based on identifier(s) transmitted by at least one other access point. An access point configures itself with assistance from a configuration server. The access point sends information such as the location of the access point to the configuration server and the configuration server responds with a list of neighboring access points for that access point. The configuration server provides configuration information to an access point on the basis of the location of the access point. The configuration server also directs an access point to a different configuration server.
