<p>The objective of the invention is to reduce the traffic and network loads accompanying the transmission of monitor packets. A relay apparatus comprises: a condition determination unit that determines, on the basis of a predetermined condition, whether to transfer, to a designated transfer destination, a monitor packet that is to be transmitted and received between relay apparatuses so as to monitor the connection state of a path in a network; and a packet processing unit that, when having received the monitor packet, processes the monitor packet on the basis of a determination result of the condition determination unit.</p> |
