1. A tape storage medium, comprising:
at least one data band, the data band comprising a set of data sub-bands adjacent to each other, each data sub-band containing a set of data tracks along a longitudinal extension of the tape storage medium and adjacent to each other, wherein: each data sub-band of the set comprises a pair of servo tracks for supporting to determine positional information, wherein the set of data tracks of each data sub-band is arranged between the servo tracks of the pair, and wherein the servo tracks of the pair contain at least one servo pattern; every N-th data sub-band of the set is referred to as reference data sub-band, with N≧2; the servo patterns in the servo tracks of the reference data sub-bands of the set are distinct from each other; and the servo tracks of the N−1 data sub-bands arranged between consecutive reference data sub-bands contain one or more servo patterns distinct from each other in the case of more than one servo pattern and distinct from each of the servo patterns in the servo tracks of any reference data sub-band of the set. |
