<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for optimizing media playback quality for a wireless handheld computing device, e.g., during playback of video, when the device is coupled to a wireless communications network.SOLUTION: The system includes a client request manager for controlling or instructing a web browser on what file segments should be downloaded next to the wireless handheld mobile computing device. The request manager continually monitors each element of an application subsystem and a modem subsystem, and selectively downloads one or more file segments to optimize media playback on the basis of data received from at least one of the subsystems.</p> |
