The present invention provides a catheter capable of achieving favorable maneuverability and back-up support. This catheter, which has a lumen and is introduced and retained in a lumen of a living body, is characterized in that: said catheter has a deforming region (10, 30) that is parallel to the lumen of the catheter and extends in the axial direction; said deforming region (10, 30) is configured so that when the catheter is curved and forms a curved section, the deforming region migrates to the inside of the curved section; at least a portion of the outer surface of the catheter is covered with a surface-lubricating layer; the outer surface of the catheter in at least a portion of the deforming region (10, 30) is provided with a low slippage section (5, 25) having a lubricity lower than the surface-lubricating layer; and the surface-lubricating layer and the low slippage section (5, 25) are provided at the same position of the catheter in the axial direction. |
