The present invention provides a thin film solar cell capable of having high photoelectric conversion efficiency. The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a semiconductor thin film which is used for the thin film solar cell; and a coating liquid for forming a semiconductor, which is able to easily form the thin film solar cell with a large area and is also able to improve the production stability of the thin film solar cell. The present invention is a thin film solar cell having a photoelectric conversion layer, wherein the photoelectric conversion layer has a site that contains a sulfide and/or a selenide of a group 15 element of the periodic table and a compound containing one or more elements selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements, titanium and zinc.
