1,148,008. Reclaiming rubber in a continuous fashion. ULTREX-CHEMIE G.m.b.H. 11 July, 1966 [20 July, 1965], No. 31097/66. Heading C3E. Rubber scrap is pulverized, mixed with reclaiming aids and then simultaneously exposed to centrifugal forces whilst subjecting in a pulsating manner to friction, milling, shearing, and crushing forces, the last part of the treatment being carried out within 5 seconds from the start of the centrifugal forces. In an apparatus for carrying out the invention the ground scrap is passed through an aperture 11 in a disc 12 provided with teeth 22. The scrap is given a centrifugal force by impeller 25 and passes through the gap between the teeth 22<SP>1</SP> of disc 13 and teeth 22. Disc 13 rotates thereby imparting pulsating flow to the scrap and also shearing and crushing the scrap. The scrap passes into the chamber 12<SP>1</SP> having grooves 23, 23<SP>1</SP> wherein it is milled and then between close parallel surfaces 24, 24<SP>1</SP> wherein the scrap is subjected to frictional forces. The reclaimed scrap may then be cooled and treated conventionally. |
