<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink set that has a viscosity at the same level as a dark ink with a high density by using a pigment having the same light ink composition, is excellent in discharge stability and storage stability, and is excellent in scuff resistance and water resistance of an image formed on the predetermined recording medium by using the light ink composition. <P>SOLUTION: An ink set includes a first ink composition and at least one or more second ink composition. Both first and second ink compositions include: a pigment; a thermoplastic water soluble resin having a glass transition temperature of ≥25°C and ≤85°C and a weight average molecular weight of ≥5,000 and ≤20,000; a thermoplastic resin emulsion; a surfactant; and a water-soluble organic solvent having boiling point of ≤250°C.
