<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relatively inexpensive key switch structure for a key board that allows a long illumination life and a uniform and excellent state of illumination with a small number of components. <P>SOLUTION: A key top 111 is formed from a light transmissive member. A light transmissive cutout character portion 111c is formed on the key top 111. A back plate 117 that includes a light transmissive member is arranged under a light transmissive membrane sheet 116 that has a contact portion. The back plate 117 is light transmissive and has a function of fixing a key switch. An LED light source 125 is arranged so as to face the back plate 117.
