<p>An apparatus 109 comprises at least one periodicity estimator 16 configured to determine estimates of periodicity based on positional data associated with at least two apparatus 19 experiencing the same audio event 103, such as a live music performance or radio broadcast. A joint tempo determiner determines a joint tempo (BPM) estimate 163 based on the estimates of periodicity associated with the at least two apparatus. The apparatus may also determine a periodicity distribution and a dominant periodicity estimate, which may be displayed to an event audience and/or an event creator. The at least two apparatus may be mobile devices, containing accelerometers or other position sensors, which transmit position data relating to the dancing or other rhythmic motion of people in an audience. The joint tempo estimate may be used, along with signals recorded by microphones, to estimate the tempo of the audio produced during the event. Claims to an apparatus for determining and transmitting positional data relating to at least one apparatus experiencing an audio event is also disclosed.</p> |
