<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film mode detection device which has tolerance to noise and old cinema video when interlaced-scanning telecine video signals are displayed on a progressive-scanning display such as a liquid crystal TV, and a method and program therefor. <P>SOLUTION: A film mode detection device includes: means of detecting the presence of vertical and oblique edges of a moving subject when, in pixel units of an interlaced video signal, an absolute interframe differential value is larger than a luminance change threshold and a luminance gradient value obtained by differentiating the interface luminance of peripheral pixels of a pixel is larger than a luminance gradient threshold; means of counting up a cumulative number of moving pixels as many as the number of vertical and oblique edges found on one line; and means of comparing moving pixel counts and still pixel counts of the current field with moving pixel counts and still pixel counts of five past fields to detect a repeat field. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
