This invention illustrates an apparatus and a method for estimating a person′s age. This apparatus for estimating a person′s age is composed of the input unit that receives a facial image, the correction unit that detects a facial area from a facial image, uses the eye area to calculate the center coordinates for each eye and uses the center coordinates to correct the rotation of facial image, the detection unit that redetects a facial area from the facial image with corrected rotation, the characteristics vector generator unit that that divides up the redetected facial area into multiple blocks, creates a characteristic vector for each block and adds them to create a single characteristics vector, the weight calculation unit that calculates a weight by using fuzzy logics in each block, and the estimation unit that estimates an age by using each block′s characteristics vector and weight associated with it. |
