The unit (100) has a voltage transformer unit mounted on a circuit carrier (108), which is arranged in a casing base element (102) in a plug-in direction (126) of a power plug contact (106). A defined region (128) of the carrier to be insulated is received in a casting space (118) enclosed by walls of the base element. The casting space of the base element is filled with an electrically insulating casting compound, so that the defined region is covered by the casting compound. Another region (130) of the carrier is not encapsulated, and an electronic component is arranged on the carrier. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a power supply unit for supplying a load with low voltage.
