PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of efficiently cooling a reflection type optical modulating device while reducing in size.SOLUTION: A projector comprises: a plurality of light incident side end surfaces, to which each color light beam modulated by reflection type optical modulating devices 312R, 312G and 312B is individually made incident; a cross dichroic prism 32 for synthesizing the each incident color light beam; a base section 3124 mounted to the reflection type optical modulating devices 312R, 312G and 312B; a heat sink 3123 projecting from the base section 3124 and having a fin 3125 extending in a direction intersecting an intersection end surface 322 intersecting the light incident side end surfaces; and a duct member 5 for exhausting introduced air to the heat sink 3123. The duct member 5 is disposed opposite to the fin 3125 and has first exhausting sections 121 and 131 for exhausting the introduced air in a direction towards the base section 3124 and second exhausting sections 122 and 132 for exhausting the introduced air along a direction in which the fin 3125 extends. |
