A C/C composite (101) configured so that the inside face (101S1) and outside face (101S2) of a curved face portion in the C/C composite are disposed opposite each other, the outside face (101S2) of the C/C composite has periodic undulations of a corrugated appearance in which the apical portions thereof extend in the direction of the center axis of a rotating body, carbon fibers are oriented along the inside face (101S1)at the inside face (101S1) of the C/C composite, and carbon fibers are oriented along the inclines of the undulations of the outside face at the outside face (101S2) of the C/C composite. This allows the C/C composite to be manufactured by compressing a pre-form after forming the undulations in advance so that wrinkles in the pre-form are dispersed along the entire outside peripheral face of the pre-form. A high-density, high-strength C/C composite can therefore be provided in which wrinkles in the outside peripheral face of the C/C composite are widely distributed and are shallow, there are no defect areas in which wrinkles are concentrated, and delamination or cracking does not readily occur. |
