1,096,222. Sealing and labelling sacks. A. WINDMÍLLER and M. GENNERICH [trading as WINDMÍLLER & HÍLSCHER]. Jan. 28, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1964]. No. 3836/65. Headings B8C and B8F. The weld 3 (Fig. 7) closing the mouth of a thermoplastics sack 1 also secures a thermoplastic label 2 by its edge. The filled sacks to be closed and labelled are carried on a conveyer 4 (Fig. 1) so that the bent over mouth 5 can be inserted by an operator between a vertically spaced pair of endless belts 8, 9. A solenoid 32 is then operated to press the belt 8 against the belt 9 which is supported by a table 12 the rear end 11 of which is bent-up to locate the mouth of the bag. A rotating circular knife (60) (Fig. 4, not shown) trims the bag mouth. The bag mouth is then gripped between the belt 9 and a further belt 33, together with a label cut, or torn along perforations, from a web on a roll 43. The seam is made while the bag is gripped by the belts 9, 33. Suitable feelers detecting the bag and the label control the drives. The table 12 and the belts 8, 9 may be inclined transversely so that the operator inserts the neck of the bag upwardly into the gap 6.
