1. A method of displaying information related to an event on a display screen of a handheld electronic device comprising:
in response to detecting a notification message trigger followed by a first movement of the handheld electronic device from an initial position to a first orientation, displaying on the display screen a first notice including displayed information related to the event; in response to a second movement of the handheld device from the first orientation to a second orientation, displaying a second notice on the display screen, the second notice including all information provided in the first notice and additional information related to the event; and in response to a third movement of the handheld electronic device from the second orientation to a third orientation, displaying on the display screen a third notice related to the event, the third notice being modified from the first notice and the second notice; wherein the event is receipt of an electronic message by the handheld electronic device; and wherein:
displaying the third notice includes displaying sender identification for the electronic message, subject information corresponding to a subject field for the electronic message, and at least some content corresponding to a message body field of the electronic message;displaying the second notice includes displaying the sender identification and subject information without displaying any of the content; anddisplaying the first notice includes displaying the sender identification without displaying the subject information and any of the content.
