1,099,471. Batteries. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 1, 1966 [March 8, 1965], No. 9717/65. Heading H1B. A vent plug arrangement for a battery comprises an elongated C-section rigid strap 5 which holds a plurality of vent plugs 7 in spaced relation by the engagement of the inturned parallel edges 9 of the strap with circumferential grooves in the vent plugs. In one arrangement the vent plugs are seated in correctly spaced holes in a former and the plastics strap is slid longitudinally into the grooves of the vent plugs. The vent plug arrangement is then removed from the former, the vent plugs being held in spaced relation by the wedging action of tapered portions 8 of the strap with resilient parts of the plugs. A further drilled plastics strap 18 may be provided to more positively locate the vent plugs, the strap 6 being slid into position after strap 18 has been placed in position. The plugs are a force-fit in the battery openings. |
